PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

firelight-allocation.cfd is an impersonation phishing page that copies Firelight. It uses the page title "Firelight – The Protection Layer for Digital Assets" and pairs it with an "allocation" domain name aimed at people expecting a token distribution. PhishDestroy flagged it on 2026-10-07, the same day it was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the domain was still live, but its phishing content was no longer resolving.

How the scam works

Lures like this present a fake Firelight allocation or claim page and borrow the project's security-focused branding to look trustworthy. The visitor is pushed to connect a wallet to check or claim an allocation. Pages of this kind usually ask the victim to sign transactions or token approvals, or to type in a recovery phrase. Any of these can let the operator move assets out of the wallet. A site that markets itself as a protection layer for digital assets is a fitting disguise, because users go in expecting a safety step rather than a trap.

Evidence

On 2026-10-11, 14 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, including ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and G-Data. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and identified Firelight branding on the page. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain sits on the MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL blocklists. Those are the lists wallet software and crypto security teams rely on, so many users will see warnings before the page loads. Three AlienVault OTX pulses also reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Spaceship, Inc. on 2026-10-07 and caught that same day. That timing points to a short-lived campaign domain, not a site that was compromised later. The cheap .cfd extension fits that pattern. Traffic runs through Cloudflare, Inc. with a Canada geolocation, which hides the origin server. The Let's Encrypt certificate only means the padlock appears, and it says nothing about legitimacy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet here, review and revoke any token approvals or permissions granted around your visit, using a reputable approval-checking tool. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet and move any remaining funds to it immediately.
