PhishDestroy threat report
v1compound.finance is an impersonation phishing page that presented itself as Compound Finance, the DeFi lending protocol. It was aimed at people who supply or borrow assets on Compound, using a "v1" prefix that suggests an older protocol version or migration portal. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-08-20. The site has been offline since 2026-09-08, and as of 2026-10-19 its DNS no longer resolves.
The page carried the title "Compound Finance" so that a visitor arriving from a search ad, social post or direct message would believe they had reached the real protocol. Fake DeFi front-ends like this typically ask the user to connect a wallet and then request a transaction, token approval or signature that hands control of funds to the attacker. Some ask for a recovery phrase under the pretext of restoring or migrating a position. Either way, the victim can lose whatever tokens the approval or phrase covers, and approvals stay usable until they are revoked.
Five of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-03: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That count is modest, so most other scanners would have let the page through. The stronger signal comes from wallet-focused blocklists. MetaMask and SEAL list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, which means it would be blocked inside the wallets most likely to be targeted. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
The domain was registered through HOSTINGER operations, UAB on 2026-08-18, only two days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap fits a site built for a fast, short-lived campaign. It was served from 216.198.79.1 on an Amazon.com, Inc. network in the US, with a free Let's Encrypt certificate that made the padlock appear without proving anything about who ran the site. It went dark less than three weeks after detection.
If you connected a wallet to this site, review your token approvals with a revocation tool and cancel any you do not recognize, especially unlimited allowances. If you typed in a recovery phrase, treat the wallet as compromised and move your remaining assets to a newly created wallet right away. Reach Compound only through addresses you have bookmarked yourself, and be wary of "v1" or "migration" portals. Security teams should block the domain and its IP and search their logs for past visits from users who may have signed transactions.
