PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

photontrade.lol is a phishing site that copies Photon, a platform traders use to discover and trade new tokens. Its page title reads "Photon - Your Trusted Platform for Token Discovery & Trading," so it is built to pass as the real service for anyone who lands on it from a search result, ad or shared link. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-10-01, and it was still online with its content live on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Photon users normally sign in by linking a crypto wallet, and lookalike sites exploit that habit. Copies like this one usually present a familiar landing page, then push the visitor to connect a wallet, sign a request or enter a recovery phrase to "log in" or "start trading." Whatever is handed over gives the operators a way to move the victim's funds, and transfers out of a wallet cannot be reversed.

Evidence

On 2026-10-02, 7 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Kaspersky and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but the flags come from unrelated vendors. The wallet-focused blocklists of MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL also list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, which means many wallet users should see a warning before the page loads. Two AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it as well.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2026-09-27, four days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains that are set up and put to use almost immediately. The ".lol" ending also has nothing to do with Photon's real branding. Traffic passes through Cloudflare, with the address resolving to Canada, so the server that actually hosts the page is hidden behind the proxy.

What to do

Do not connect a wallet or sign anything on photontrade.lol, and reach Photon only through a bookmark or a source you already trust. If you entered a seed phrase or private key there, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining assets to a newly created wallet right away. If you connected a wallet or signed a request, review and revoke any token approvals you do not recognize, and watch the wallet for unexpected transfers. Defenders should block the domain at the DNS and proxy level, warn trading communities that use Photon, and report the site to Cloudflare and Namecheap to speed up takedown.
