PhishDestroy threat report
searchdrop.live is a fake token airdrop site built to trick cryptocurrency holders into believing they have unclaimed tokens waiting for them. It runs the Airdrop Scam kit and targets general crypto wallet users rather than any single platform's audience. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-14, and as of 2026-10-19 the site remains fully live and serving its malicious content.
The page greets visitors with the headline "Airdrop Is Live — Claim Your Bag", a classic urgency hook designed to make users act before thinking. To "claim" the supposed tokens, victims are prompted to connect their crypto wallet and sign one or more transactions. Those signatures hand control of the wallet's assets to the attacker, draining tokens and approvals in seconds. The victim receives nothing; the promised airdrop does not exist.
Twelve of 89 engines on VirusTotal flagged this domain as malicious as of 2026-09-23, with detections from alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, CRDF, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, and Gridinsoft. Spamhaus lists it under DBL_PHISH, its dedicated phishing category. The domain also appears on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask, and SEAL blocklists, and has generated four threat-intelligence pulses on OTX.
The domain was registered on 2026-09-07 through Global Domain Group LLC, just one week before PhishDestroy detected it. It is hosted on Cloudflare's network at an IP geolocated to Canada, and its TLS certificate was issued by Google Trust Services under the WE1 authority.
If you visited the site but did not connect a wallet or sign anything, no immediate action is required beyond avoiding the page. If you connected a wallet, revoke all token approvals immediately using a trusted approval-management tool, then transfer any remaining assets to a fresh wallet address. If you signed a transaction, assume your funds are at risk and act on revocation without delay. Defenders and wallet providers should add searchdrop.live to blocklists and alert users who may have interacted with it.
