safepae.top is a fraudulent crypto trading platform that borrows the name of CME Group, the well-known derivatives exchange operator, to look credible to retail traders and crypto investors. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-11, one day after the domain was registered. The site went offline on 2026-09-13, and its DNS was still inactive when last checked on 2026-10-19.
How the scam works
The page presented itself as "CME Group: A decentralized trading platform with low fees and high liquidity," pairing a trusted financial brand with crypto buzzwords. Fake exchanges like this invite visitors to open an account and deposit cryptocurrency, then show a dashboard with fabricated balances and profits to encourage larger deposits. When the victim tries to withdraw, the platform invents fees, taxes or verification steps, or simply stops responding. Every deposit goes straight to the operators and cannot be recovered.
Evidence
On 2026-09-13, 8 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar, VIPRE and Webroot. That is a modest share of engines, but it comes from a spread of independent vendors. The domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists in addition to PhishDestroy's own.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-09-10 through Dynadot LLC. It sat behind Cloudflare, Inc. at an address geolocated to Canada, which hides the actual origin server. Its TLS certificate came from Let's Encrypt (YE2), so the padlock in the browser said nothing about whether the site was legitimate. The domain went live as a scam within a day of registration and stopped resolving two days after PhishDestroy first saw it, a short lifespan typical of disposable fraud domains.
What to do
If you created an account on safepae.top, change that password anywhere else you reused it, and treat any email address or ID documents you submitted as exposed.
