PhishDestroy threat report
paypal-app.online is an impersonation phishing page that copied PayPal's sign-in screen under the title "PayPal – Log in to your account". It targeted PayPal customers who could be fooled by a domain that pairs the brand name with the word "app". PhishDestroy flagged it on 2026-09-15, the same day it was registered. The site went offline on 2026-09-16, and its DNS was still inactive when last checked on 2026-10-19.
Victims usually reach pages like this through links in emails, texts or ads that warn of a limited account, a pending payment or a required security check. The fake login form captures the email address and password. Many kits then ask for a one-time code, card details or identity information. With those credentials, attackers can log in to the real PayPal account, send money, change recovery settings or reuse the password on other services.
Within two days of registration, 15 of 89 VirusTotal engines classified the domain as malicious in a check on 2026-09-17. The flagging vendors include alphaMountain.ai, Bfore.Ai PreCrime, BitDefender, CRDF, Ermes, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and Fortinet. Spamhaus lists it in its domain blocklist under the phishing category, which affects mail filtering across many networks. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference the domain, so multiple researchers tracked it independently.
The domain was registered through Name.com, Inc. on 2026-09-15 and flagged the same day. That points to a disposable domain built for a short campaign rather than a site with any history. It resolved to 34.111.179.208 on Google LLC's network in the US. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gave visitors a browser padlock, which proves only that the connection was encrypted and says nothing about who runs the site.
If you entered your PayPal login on this page, change your PayPal password immediately, along with any other account that uses the same password. Turn on two-step verification and remove any unfamiliar devices, phone numbers or email addresses from your account. Check recent PayPal activity and report unauthorized payments to PayPal right away. If you entered card details, contact your card issuer. Security teams should block the domain and look for any mail or traffic that pointed users to it, since other lookalike domains may follow.
