PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

PhishDestroy listed metextapp.info on 2026-10-22 after its intake flagged the domain because VirusTotal reported four malicious detections. The intake AI also noted that, only two days after registration, the site displayed content prompting visitors to create or connect a crypto wallet, a typical phishing cue. The page returned HTTP 200 and the recorded title was “My Blog – My WordPress Blog”, which does not itself indicate malicious intent.

How the scam works

Crypto‑wallet phishing sites lure users into linking their wallet or entering seed phrases, then harvest private keys or request token approvals to drain funds. They often hide behind innocuous‑looking pages to gain the victim’s trust before extracting credentials.

Evidence

VirusTotal analysis on 2026-10-12 recorded five detections, with four vendors (alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Webroot) marking the domain malicious and one (Gridinsoft) marking it suspicious. Urlscan captured the site on 2026-10-03 and returned a malicious verdict. Google Safe Browsing showed no flag on 2026-10-22. External blocklists MetaMask and SEAL listed the domain (2 listings) and PhishDestroy’s internal list marked it malicious. OTX recorded three pulses referencing the domain as of 2026-10-22.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-01 through PDR Ltd. d/b/a PublicDomainRegistry.com. At the time of observation it pointed to IP 162.241.85.94, which belonged to Unified Layer in India, and used a Let's Encrypt certificate issued on 2026-10-01 and expiring on 2026-12-30. DNS records included A, MX, NS and SPF entries, and DNSSEC was not enabled.
