Overview

location-findmy.us is an impersonation phishing domain whose name is built to resemble a "Find My" device-location page. It targets people who have lost a phone or are told their device has been located. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-10-15. The site went offline on 2026-10-16, and when last checked on 2026-10-19 it was dead and served no threatening content.

How the scam works

Lures that use "Find My" usually arrive after a phone is lost or stolen. The victim gets a text or email saying the device has been found, with a link to a page like this one that shows a familiar-looking login screen. Any username, password or verification code typed there goes straight to the operators. Thieves can then use that account to unlock or wipe the stolen phone, remove its tracking lock, and resell it. They can also get into email, photos and other data synced to the account. The page title showed only the bare domain, so the address itself carried the impersonation.

Evidence

On 2026-10-15, 9 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The vendors that flagged it include BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai and Lionic. That is a modest share of engines, but it comes from several unrelated security vendors. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it independently. PhishDestroy lists it on its blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through NameSilo, LLC on 2025-12-16, about ten months before we detected it. A delay like that often means a domain was registered in advance and held until a campaign needed it. It resolves to an address on the SEDO GmbH network (AS47846) in Germany. That network is widely used for parked and for-sale domains, which matches the harmless content seen after the takedown.

What to do

If you entered your device account login on this site, change that password right away from a device you trust. Turn on two-factor authentication and remove any devices or sessions you don't recognize. Do not remove a lost phone from your account because of a message or a call, and ignore further texts claiming your device has been found. If the phone was stolen, report it to your carrier and the police. Defenders should block the domain and watch for lookalike "find my" and "location" domains in SMS and email filtering.
