PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

PhishDestroy added gifmi.site to its internal blocklist on 2026-10-23 after VirusTotal flagged the domain with two malicious detections. A direct HTTP request on that date returned a 403 status, while a Cloudflare Radar capture taken the same day showed a reachable page marked with generic login‑screen risk tags.

How the scam works

The current evidence does not reveal a concrete malicious payload or phishing form on gifmi.site; the domain is simply classified as suspicious based on security‑engine alerts. In general, such domains may be used to host credential‑phishing pages, malware downloads, or other fraudulent content, but no specific mechanism was observed here.

Evidence

VirusTotal scanned the domain on 2026-10-23 and reported four detections from 92 engines, including two malicious (CRDF, Fortinet) and two suspicious (SOCRadar, alphaMountain.ai). Google Safe Browsing checked the same day and did not flag the site. An urlscan.io capture from 2026-10-22 gave a clean verdict, and OTX listed four pulses referencing the domain on 2026-10-23. PhishDestroy’s internal list marks the domain as blocked, while external blocklists returned zero hits at the time of checking.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered with NameCheap on 2026-08-19 and is set to expire on 2027-08-19 under a client‑transfer‑prohibited status. The DNS records observed on 2026-10-23 listed Cloudflare‑served IPv4 addresses 188.114.96.3 and 188.114.97.3 plus IPv6 addresses, and the TLS certificate captured then was issued by Google Trust Services and was valid through 2026-11-25. The capture also showed that Cloudflare’s WAF was enabled and that the hosting network was identified as Cloudflare, Inc. in the United States.

How do phishing scams typically work?
