PhishDestroy threat report
exit-pain.xyz is an impersonation phishing page that copied a legitimate service so visitors would hand over credentials or wallet secrets. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-11. It went offline on 2026-09-13, and on 2026-10-19 the site was still dead with no active DNS. The page carried the title "New Private Tab," which reads like a browser's default tab rather than any brand, while our analysis classified the content as impersonation.
Impersonation pages copy the look of a trusted login, wallet or exchange screen. Victims usually arrive through ads, direct messages or lookalike links and believe they are on the real site. Anything typed into the forms goes straight to the operator, including passwords, one-time codes, recovery phrases or private keys. In crypto, a captured recovery phrase gives the operator full control of the wallet, and funds taken that way cannot be reversed.
On 2026-09-12, 8 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. The vendors were BitDefender, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky, LevelBlue, Sophos and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but it comes from several unrelated vendors within a day of our first sighting. ScamSniffer, a crypto-focused blocklist, lists the domain alongside PhishDestroy. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it, so other researchers tracked it independently.
The domain was registered on 2026-09-03 through PDR Ltd. d/b/a PublicDomainRegistry.com, eight days before we detected it. That short window is typical of disposable phishing domains. It resolved to an address on the Cogent Communications network in Canada. Its TLS certificate came from a Hestia Control Panel install on the operator's own VPS rather than a public certificate authority, which points to a self-managed server set up for this campaign.
If you entered a password or 2FA code on exit-pain.xyz, change that password now and reset 2FA on the real service. Do the same anywhere else you reuse that password. If you typed a recovery phrase or private key, treat the wallet as compromised and move the remaining funds to a newly created wallet immediately. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting address, and search mail, chat and proxy logs for visits between 2026-09-03 and 2026-09-13 to find users who may have exposed credentials.
