PhishDestroy threat report
bighatstoreshop.shop presents itself as BigHatStore, a niche retailer of oversized hats for people with large heads. PhishDestroy classifies it as an E-Commerce Scam: a fake online shop built to take payment without delivering what was ordered. We first flagged it on 2026-10-16. When checked on 2026-10-19, the site was still online and serving its storefront.
The page title, "Large Hats | Buy Top-Rated Big Hats for Large Heads in Every Size | BigHatStore", is written to catch shoppers who struggle to find hats that fit and search for exactly that. Fake shops of this kind show a polished catalog, claim "top-rated" products and stock every size, then send buyers to a checkout that collects card or payment details. Victims usually lose the purchase price. They may also hand over a working card number, billing address and contact details that can be reused for fraud. Orders typically never arrive, or a cheap item unrelated to what was bought shows up instead.
On 2026-10-19, VirusTotal showed 8 of 92 engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue and SOCRadar. That is a minority of engines, but the vendors are independent of each other and agree on the verdict. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically marked it as a fake shop. Three AlienVault OTX pulses also reference the domain, so other researchers are tracking it too.
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-06-08, about four months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap is common for fake stores that build up a little history before driving traffic to the site. It is hosted at 162.222.90.205 on a network operated by Malakmadze Web LLC, a company registered in Georgia, while the address itself geolocates to the United States. The free Let's Encrypt certificate gives the site a padlock, but a padlock only means the connection is encrypted and says nothing about whether the shop is honest.
If you paid on this site, contact your bank or card issuer right away to dispute the charge as merchandise not received or fraud. Ask whether the card should be cancelled and reissued. Watch your statements for small test charges, and be wary of follow-up emails or texts claiming to be about your order, because the details you entered can be used for phishing. Do not place further orders or pay any "shipping" or "customs" fees the shop requests. Security teams and payment providers should block the domain and report associated merchant accounts to the relevant acquirers.
