PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

bic-binance.com.cn is a phishing domain built to pass as Binance. It uses a lookalike name with an unrelated "bic-" prefix and a Chinese .com.cn ending, and it targets Binance customers. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-10-16, two days after registration. The site went dead on 2026-10-19 and was still unreachable when last checked that day.

How the scam works

Binance impersonation domains usually reach victims through messages, ads or search results that look official. They lead to a login or verification page styled like the exchange. Anything typed there, including email, password, 2FA codes or identity details, goes to the operators, who can use it to take over the real account and withdraw funds. Some variants instead push victims to deposit crypto into a fake balance. When we checked, the page title read "恭喜，站点创建成功！" ("Congratulations, site created successfully!"), the default text of a freshly set-up web server, while we classified the domain as Binance impersonation.

Evidence

On 2026-10-16, VirusTotal showed 0 detections out of 92 engines. At that point no antivirus vendor had caught the domain, so a clean scan here offers no reassurance. Other sources did flag it: MetaMask and SEAL list it alongside PhishDestroy, Spamhaus DBL lists it as DBL_SPAM, and it appears in 2 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-14 through 北京新网数码信息技术有限公司 (Xin Net). It was in our feed within two days and offline about five days after registration, a short throwaway lifespan common in phishing runs. It was hosted at 38.76.193.133 on the COGNETCLOUD-2 network operated by cognetcloud INC, a US-registered network, with the address located in Hong Kong. Its TLS certificate came from TrustAsia's LiteSSL RSA CA 2025, a low-cost domain-validated certificate, so the browser padlock proved only that the connection was encrypted, not that the site was legitimate.

What to do

If you entered Binance credentials on this domain, change your password from the official app right away. Reset 2FA, review active sessions and API keys, and check whitelisted withdrawal addresses for any you did not add. If you sent crypto expecting it to appear in an account here, report the transaction to Binance support and keep the transaction hashes, and ignore any follow-up asking for "fees" to recover funds. Defenders should block the domain and its IP, add the "bic-binance" naming pattern to lookalike monitoring, and not treat a 0/92 VirusTotal score as a sign of safety.
