PhishDestroy threat report
bellsofsteelonline.shop posed as the online store of Bells of Steel, the fitness equipment brand, under the title "Gym Equipment Online Store | Fitness & Home Gym Gear | Bells of Steel". It targeted people shopping for racks, barbells and home gym gear who would recognize the brand name. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-13 as an impersonation phishing page. The site went offline on 2026-10-14, and its DNS was still inactive when we last checked on 2026-10-19.
Brand-impersonation shops copy the look and product range of a real retailer, then use discounted prices on heavy, expensive equipment to push visitors toward checkout. The shopper enters a name, shipping address and payment card details, or is steered to an irreversible payment method. Typically nothing ships, or a cheap substitute arrives, and the card data can be reused for further fraud. The "online" suffix tacked onto the brand name is a common trick to make a lookalike domain feel official.
urlscan.io rated the page malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop, which matches our classification. On VirusTotal, 6 of 92 engines flagged it: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, LevelBlue and Netcraft. That count is modest, but it comes from several independent vendors, including Netcraft, which specializes in phishing and fraud sites. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc. on 2026-05-26, about four and a half months before we detected it. That suggests it either sat dormant or ran quietly before being caught. It was hosted on the Malakmadze Web LLC network in Georgia, a long way from the real brand's market, and used a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the padlock in the browser proved nothing about who ran the store.
If you ordered from this site, contact your card issuer right away, report the charge as fraud, request a chargeback and have the card replaced. Watch your statements for small test charges, and treat follow-up emails about "delivery problems" or refunds as a second phishing attempt. If you created an account there, change that password wherever you reused it. Defenders should block the domain, watch for other brand-plus-"online" lookalikes of Bells of Steel, and pass similar finds to PhishDestroy and the brand owner.
