PhishDestroy threat report
appalax.shop is a phishing site that uses the OwnHomelab name, greeting visitors in Russian with the tagline "Ваш сервер. Без границ." ("Your server. Without borders."). It targets people looking for self-hosted or rented server services. Because it also appears on MetaMask's blocklist, crypto wallet users are at risk too. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-20. As of 2026-10-19 it is still online and serving its content.
Impersonation pages copy the look and wording of a real service so visitors trust what they see. Under the OwnHomelab branding, a page like this can ask visitors to sign in, register or pay for a server plan. Whatever they submit, such as account credentials, card details or crypto payments, goes to the operators instead of the real provider. The page reads like a hosting offer, but it was classified as impersonation based on its use of the OwnHomelab identity, and listings by MetaMask and SEAL tie it to crypto-focused fraud.
Seven of 91 VirusTotal engines marked the domain as malicious when checked on 2026-10-01: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky, LevelBlue and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but it comes from a varied mix of reputation, threat-feed and endpoint vendors. MetaMask and SEAL both list the domain alongside PhishDestroy. Three AlienVault OTX pulses reference it, which means other analysts have independently tracked it.
The domain was registered through Namecheap, Inc. on 2026-09-03. PhishDestroy caught it 17 days later, a short gap typical of throwaway domains bought for a single campaign. The cheap .shop extension and a brand-free name unrelated to OwnHomelab fit the same disposable pattern. The site is hosted on GHOSTnet GmbH's network in the United States and uses a free Let's Encrypt certificate, so the browser padlock says nothing about who runs it.
Do not log in, register or pay on appalax.shop. If you entered a password, change it on the genuine service and anywhere else you reused it, then turn on two-factor authentication. If you paid by card, contact your bank to dispute the charge and block the card. If you connected a crypto wallet or signed anything, revoke token approvals with a trusted approval checker and move funds you consider exposed to a fresh wallet. Defenders should block the domain and its hosting IP at DNS and proxy level, and search logs for any users who visited it since 2026-09-20.
