PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

thedegens.fun is an impersonation phishing page that poses as a legitimate crypto project to deceive wallet users. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-29. On 2026-10-19 the host still answered requests, but the domain's content was DNS-inactive, so the page may not load even though the site has not been fully dismantled. The page title currently reads "Problem loading page," a browser-style error string, while we classify the domain as impersonation phishing.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages copy the look, name and tone of a known project so visitors believe they are on the real site. In the crypto space the goal is usually to get a visitor to connect a wallet, sign a transaction or approval, or type in a seed phrase under the pretext of a claim, mint or verification step. Once that happens, the operator can move tokens and NFTs out of the wallet, and blockchain transfers cannot be reversed. A degen-themed name on a .fun domain fits the meme-coin and airdrop audience these lures usually target.

Evidence

Seven of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-03: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky, SOCRadar and URLQuery. That count is modest, but the wallet-focused blocklists carry more weight here. MetaMask, ScamSniffer and SEAL all list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, which means wallet users running those protections should see a warning. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses also reference it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Namecheap on 2026-07-21, about 70 days before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests it was set up in advance and kept quiet before the campaign went live. It resolves to 216.198.79.1 on Amazon's network in the United States. A free Let's Encrypt certificate provides the padlock, so HTTPS here is no sign of legitimacy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to thedegens.fun, review and revoke any token approvals or permissions you granted, using a trusted approval-checking tool. Move any remaining assets to a new wallet if you signed anything you did not fully understand. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and transfer whatever is left to a fresh one immediately. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at DNS and proxy level and add it to wallet and browser protection lists. Because the host is still responding, keep watching for the content to come back online.
