PhishDestroy threat report
pons-voting-kp.netlify.app is an impersonation phishing page dressed up as an on-chain governance vote for pons. Its title, "Vote 0x4B...1E18 — pons", presents it as a ballot on a specific proposal, the kind of link circulated to token holders in community channels. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-15. The site has been offline since 2026-09-16, and as of 2026-10-19 the root returns no content.
Fake voting pages exploit the urgency around governance. Holders are told a proposal is live and that they must connect a wallet to cast their vote. The "vote" is the trap. Instead of a harmless signature, the victim is typically asked to approve token spending or sign a permit, which hands the operator the ability to move the assets. Because the page imitates pons branding and quotes a proposal-style identifier, the request can look like a routine part of participating.
Wallet-security blocklists caught this page. Besides PhishDestroy, it is listed by MetaMask, whose warning reaches users at the moment they try to open it, and by SEAL. General antivirus coverage was thin. On 2026-09-17, VirusTotal showed 3 of 89 engines flagging it: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and VIPRE. A low count like that is normal for a short-lived crypto lure and does not mean the page was safe.
The page sat on a free Netlify subdomain rather than a registered domain. This kind of throwaway setup costs nothing and can be replaced within minutes once it is reported. Traffic resolved to Amazon infrastructure in Germany. The DigiCert certificate is the platform's standard one, so the padlock only shows the connection was encrypted, not that the page was genuine. It went dark one day after PhishDestroy first saw it, which fits a campaign that rotates hosts quickly.
If you only opened the page, no action is needed beyond avoiding links that claim to host pons votes. If you connected a wallet and signed or approved anything, check your token approvals with a trusted revocation tool and revoke any you do not recognise. Move remaining funds to a fresh wallet if you suspect a permit signature. Reach governance only through the project's official site and announced channels. Defenders should block the hostname and watch for similar "voting" subdomains on free hosting platforms.
