PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

partridgeautosupply.com presented itself as "Partridge Auto Supply & Vehicle Auctions", a storefront for auto parts and vehicle auctions. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page that targets people shopping for vehicles or parts online. We first saw it on 2026-09-05. It has been offline since 2026-09-15, and as of 2026-10-19 its domain no longer resolves.

How the scam works

Sites dressed up as auto suppliers and vehicle auction houses rely on listings priced to sell fast. A shopper is drawn into placing a bid or reserving a car, then asked to pay a deposit, the full price or a shipping and escrow fee. Payment is usually requested by bank transfer, cryptocurrency or another method that is hard to reverse. Once the money is sent, the vehicle or parts never arrive. Contact or account forms on such pages can also collect names, addresses, phone numbers and payment details for further fraud.

Evidence

Four of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain on 2026-09-17: CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a low count, but it means vendors with separate detection pipelines reached the same verdict on a newly registered site. The domain also appears in nine AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which shows other researchers were tracking it. It is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-16 through NameCheap, Inc. and appeared in our detection 20 days later. It was then dead within about a month of registration. That short lifespan is typical of throwaway storefront scams. The site was hosted on Namecheap, Inc. network space at 209.74.79.203, geolocated to Japan.

What to do

If you paid a deposit, auction fee or shipping charge to this site, contact your bank or card issuer right away to request a chargeback or recall the transfer. Report the loss to your national fraud authority. If you paid in cryptocurrency, report the transaction to the exchange you sent it from. Expect follow-up contact offering to "recover" your money for a fee, and ignore it. If you entered card details, ask your issuer to replace the card. Defenders should block the domain and IP and add the name to brand-monitoring watchlists in case it is re-registered.
