PhishDestroy threat report
hotdrop.top presents itself under the brand name HOT DROP and operates as a crypto wallet drainer targeting cryptocurrency holders. PhishDestroy first identified it on 2026-10-14, twelve days after the domain was registered on 2026-10-02. As of 2026-10-18 the site remains fully live with active content, meaning it is still capable of stealing funds from anyone who visits and interacts with it.
Wallet drainers like HOT DROP lure visitors with promises of token drops, NFT mints, or exclusive claim events, then prompt them to connect their crypto wallet. Once connected, the site requests one or more transaction approvals that appear routine but in fact grant the drainer contract permission to transfer tokens or NFTs out of the victim's wallet. The theft is typically instant and irreversible; victims lose whatever assets the approved contract is permitted to move.
Five of 92 engines on VirusTotal flagged hotdrop.top as malicious as of 2026-10-18, with detections from alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar, and VIPRE. While that detection rate is relatively low, the domain also appears on two independent blocklists — PhishDestroy and ScamSniffer, the latter of which specialises specifically in on-chain drainer detection — providing strong corroborating evidence for the classification.
The domain was registered on 2026-10-02 through Hosting Concepts B.V. d/b/a Registrar.eu and is hosted on Cloudflare's network with a Canadian-region IP address of 104.21.58.136. TLS is provided by Let's Encrypt under issuer YE1, a free certificate that requires no identity verification and is commonly used to make fraudulent sites appear legitimate at a glance.
If you visited hotdrop.top but did not connect a wallet, close the site and clear your browser cache. If you connected your wallet, immediately open a trusted tool such as a wallet's built-in approval manager or a reputable revoke service and revoke every approval granted to any contract associated with this site. If funds have already moved, document the transaction hashes and report them to your wallet provider and relevant blockchain analytics platforms. Security teams and defenders should block hotdrop.top at the DNS and network perimeter level and add it to internal threat-intelligence feeds.
