PhishDestroy threat report
hasan-321.github.io was a phishing page on a free GitHub Pages subdomain that impersonated Netflix and targeted its subscribers. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-06. The page went offline on 2026-09-11 and was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19. It now serves GitHub's default "Site not found" page, which shows the hosted content has been removed, while our classification rests on what the page served while it was live.
Netflix lures usually arrive as an email or text claiming a payment failed or the account is about to be suspended. The link leads to a page styled like the Netflix sign-in or billing screen. The victim enters their email and password, and often their full card number, expiry date and security code to "update" payment. The operator collects those details to take over the account, reuse the password on other services, or charge the card. Hosting the page on a github.io address lends it some borrowed credibility and costs the operator nothing.
On 2026-09-16, 16 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain, among them BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, G-Data, Emsisoft, ADMINUSLabs, alphaMountain.ai and CyRadar. That spread across unrelated vendors makes a false positive unlikely. Google Safe Browsing lists it as SOCIAL_ENGINEERING, which is its category for deceptive phishing pages. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and detected Netflix branding on the page. The domain is also on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
The operator did not buy a domain. The page sat under GitHub, Inc.'s github.io namespace, where anyone can publish a site in minutes, which suits short-lived phishing runs. Traffic was served through Fastly, Inc. in the US, the content delivery network behind GitHub Pages. The page lasted only about five days between our first sighting and going offline, a typical lifespan for throwaway phishing hosted on free platforms.
If you entered your Netflix password here, change it right away, along with the password on any other account where you used the same one. Then sign out of all devices from Netflix's account settings and review the account's email address and profiles for changes. If you typed in card details, call your bank to cancel the card and dispute any charges you don't recognize. Watch for follow-up messages that pretend to be from Netflix or your bank. Defenders should block the hostname, search mail and proxy logs for users who reached it between 2026-09-06 and 2026-09-11, and reset credentials for anyone who did.
