PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

en-us-eigenlayer.gitbook.io is a phishing page that impersonates EigenLayer, the Ethereum restaking protocol. It is hosted on a GitBook documentation subdomain, and the "en-us" prefix makes it look like an official localized help or docs portal. It targets EigenLayer users and restakers. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-11, and as of 2026-10-19 it was still online and redirecting visitors to another destination.

How the scam works

The page carries the title "EigenLayer | Your Gateway to a World of Digital", marketing copy meant to read like an official landing page. Fake docs pages like this usually guide visitors through what looks like routine help, such as claiming rewards, checking restaking status or fixing a wallet problem, then send them to a page that asks them to connect a wallet, sign transactions or type in a recovery phrase. Signing a malicious approval or revealing a seed phrase gives the operator control of the victim's tokens, and once moved on-chain those funds cannot be recovered. Because this page now redirects, the final step happens somewhere else, which helps the lure survive takedowns of individual destinations.

Evidence

Wallet-security blocklists caught this page well before general antivirus did. It is listed by PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL, the Security Alliance network that tracks crypto threats. On VirusTotal, only 3 of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-24: ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai and Forcepoint ThreatSeeker. That low count means most generic URL scanners will let it through, so a clean scan is no reason to trust it.

Infrastructure

The 2014-03-30 registration date belongs to gitbook.io itself, the long-established documentation platform, not to this scam. The phishing page is simply a user-created subdomain. It inherits GitBook's reputation and setup: the domain is registered through Cloudflare, Inc., it resolves through Cloudflare's network in the US, and it has a valid TLS certificate from Google Trust Services. The padlock and the familiar parent domain say nothing about who controls this particular page.

What to do

If you connected a wallet through this page or anything it redirected you to, revoke any token approvals and permissions you granted, using a trusted approval-management tool. If you entered a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and move your remaining assets to a newly created wallet immediately. Reach EigenLayer only through bookmarks you saved yourself. Never treat a third-party docs subdomain as official. Security teams should block the hostname, watch for similar "eigenlayer" subdomains on GitBook and other hosted-docs platforms, and report new instances to GitBook for removal.
