claimscenter.cc is a fake airdrop site that posed as Tether, with a page titled simply "Tether", to target cryptocurrency holders hoping to claim free tokens. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-09-15, four days after the domain was registered. The site has been offline since 2026-09-21, and as of 2026-10-19 its DNS is inactive and it no longer resolves.
How the scam works
Fake airdrop pages promise a free allocation of tokens, here branded as Tether, and push the visitor to "claim" it by connecting a crypto wallet. The claim button triggers a transaction or signature request that grants the operator permission to move the victim's assets, typically a token approval or a transfer disguised as a verification or gas step. Some pages also ask for a seed phrase to "validate" eligibility. Victims receive no tokens and can lose the stablecoins and other assets held in the connected wallet.
Evidence
On 2026-09-23, VirusTotal showed 16 of 89 security engines flagging the domain, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF, CyRadar, Ermes, ESET and Forcepoint ThreatSeeker. Spamhaus lists it in its Domain Block List as phishing (DBL_PHISH), and it appears in 3 AlienVault OTX threat pulses. It is also on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-09-11 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. under the .cc top-level domain. The short gap between registration and first detection fits the pattern of throwaway domains spun up for brief airdrop campaigns.
What to do
If you visited claimscenter.cc but did not connect a wallet or enter anything, no further action is needed. If you connected a wallet, use a token approval checker to revoke any permissions granted around that time, and move remaining funds to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. If you typed in a seed phrase, treat that wallet as compromised: create a new wallet with a new phrase immediately and transfer whatever is left. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and watch for lookalike claim domains impersonating Tether.
