boros.markets is a phishing page that impersonated Ouroboros, a crypto token project, under the page title "Ouroboros | $BOROS". It targeted token buyers and holders looking for the project's official site. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-08-31, one day after the domain was registered. The site has been offline since 2026-09-11, and at the last check on 2026-10-19 the root returned no content.
How the scam works
Fake token sites copy a project's name, ticker and branding so visitors believe they are on the real hub for buying, claiming or staking. The visitor is then pushed to connect a wallet and approve a transaction or token allowance, or to enter a seed phrase to "verify" or "sync" holdings. Any of those actions can give the operator control over the wallet's assets, and on-chain transfers cannot be reversed. A short-lived domain using the $BOROS ticker fits this pattern of riding interest around a token while it is in the news.
Evidence
MetaMask and SEAL both list the domain, alongside PhishDestroy. Those two lists are maintained specifically to protect wallet users from crypto phishing. Spamhaus classifies it in its domain blocklist as phishing (DBL_PHISH), and four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it. On VirusTotal, 7 of 89 engines flagged it as of 2026-09-12: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That detection count is modest, but the wallet-focused blocklists and the Spamhaus listing all reach the same verdict.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through NameCheap, Inc. on 2026-08-30 and was already being reported the next day, the quick turnaround typical of disposable phishing domains. It was hosted on IP 75.2.60.5 in the United States. The site went dark on 2026-09-11, roughly twelve days after registration, which suggests a brief campaign rather than a long-running operation.
What to do
If you connected a wallet to boros.markets, open a token approval checker and revoke any allowances you granted while on the site. If you typed in a seed phrase or private key, treat that wallet as compromised and move the remaining funds to a new wallet with a freshly generated phrase. Only reach Ouroboros through links published on the project's verified official channels. Defenders should block the domain and the hosting IP at DNS and proxy level, and search logs for wallet-connection traffic to it between 2026-08-30 and 2026-09-11.
