Overview

bexdex.com presents itself as a cryptocurrency exchange under the BEXDEX name, with the page title "Cryptocurrency Exchange | Buy cryptocurrency on BEXDEX". It targets people searching for a place to buy crypto who expect a legitimate trading platform. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-13 and classifies it as an impersonation phishing page. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and reachable behind a protection layer.

How the scam works

Impersonation exchanges copy the look and language of a real trading venue to win a visitor's trust. The victim signs up, often handing over an email address, password and sometimes identity documents, then is pushed to deposit crypto or fiat to "buy" coins. Balances shown on the dashboard are typically fictitious. When the victim tries to withdraw, the site invents fees, taxes or verification charges, and paying them only leads to more demands. The deposits, any extra payments, and the login and personal details entered are what the victim loses.

Evidence

On 2026-10-17, 6 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but it comes from vendors working independently of one another and arrived within days of registration. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers are tracking it too. Among blocklists it is currently carried by PhishDestroy.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-07 through NICENIC INTERNATIONAL GROUP CO., LIMITED, just six days before PhishDestroy detected it. Such a short gap fits a site built for a quick campaign rather than a long-running business. Traffic is served through Cloudflare's network, geolocated to Canada, which keeps the real origin server out of view. The Let's Encrypt certificate only gives the site the padlock icon and says nothing about its legitimacy.

What to do

Do not deposit funds on bexdex.com, and never pay a "withdrawal fee" or "tax" to release a balance, because that money will not come back. If you registered, change that password anywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication on your email and real exchange accounts. If you uploaded ID documents, watch for identity misuse. If you already sent crypto, keep the transaction hashes and report them to your exchange and local police. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to mail and web filters.
