PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

americangirlhobbies.com is a fake online shop. It presents itself as a Pet Supermarket storefront selling pet food, supplies and accessories, and it targets pet owners looking for bargains. The domain name suggests hobbies or dolls, while the page sells pet products. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-01, and the shop was still online with live content when we last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page is titled "Pet Food, Pet Supplies & Pet Products | Pet Supermarket" and borrows the look of a familiar pet retailer to seem trustworthy. Shops like this list everyday items such as food bags, litter and toys at discounts deep enough to prompt a quick purchase. Buyers enter their name, address and card details at checkout. The order either never ships or is replaced by something worthless, so victims lose the payment and also expose card data that can be reused for further fraud.

Evidence

On 2026-10-08, 7 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, Netcraft and SOCRadar. That count is modest, but these vendors reached the same conclusion independently, and several of them focus on web fraud. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and specifically identified it as a fake shop. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as spam, and it appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-08-21 through TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown, roughly six weeks before we caught it. That timeline fits disposable storefronts that are set up, promoted briefly and then abandoned. The site is hosted at 162.222.90.162 in Georgia (GE), which has no obvious link to a pet retailer serving local customers. Its Let's Encrypt certificate only provides the padlock icon and says nothing about whether the seller is legitimate.

What to do

If you ordered from this site, call your card issuer now, dispute the charge as merchandise not received or fraud, and ask for a replacement card. Watch your statements for small test charges, and treat follow-up emails about "shipping problems" or extra fees as part of the scam. If you created an account there, change that password anywhere else you used it. Defenders should block the domain and its IP at the web gateway, and payment teams can flag merchant descriptors tied to it.
