PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

usdc081.com is an impersonation phishing site whose domain borrows the name of the USDC stablecoin. The numbered suffix is typical of throwaway lookalike domains aimed at people who hold or trade stablecoins. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-09. The site has been offline since 2026-10-14, its content was blocked by the provider, and it was still dead at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Impersonation pages like this copy the look and language of a trusted crypto brand. They then push visitors to connect a wallet, type in a recovery phrase, or send funds for a supposed claim, swap or verification. Whatever the victim enters or approves goes straight to the operators, and stolen stablecoins are usually moved on within minutes. The page itself displayed the title "onkeyon", which does not match the USDC branding in the domain name. We classified the site as impersonation phishing.

Evidence

Independent detection is thin. On 2026-10-13, VirusTotal showed only 2 of 92 engines flagging the domain, from Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and LevelBlue. The domain appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tied it to malicious activity. Among the blocklists we track, PhishDestroy is the only one listing it, which means most browser and wallet warnings would not have caught it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2025-12-29 through Gname.com Pte. Ltd., roughly nine months before we detected it. A gap that long suggests the name was held in reserve before being put to use. The site ran behind Cloudflare on an address geolocated to Canada, which hides the actual origin server. Its certificate came from Google Trust Services (WE1), so visitors saw a normal padlock that says nothing about whether the site is legitimate.

What to do

If you typed a seed phrase or private key on this site, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you connected a wallet or signed transactions, check your token approvals with a revocation tool and cancel anything you do not recognise, especially USDC allowances. If you sent funds, keep the transaction hashes and report them to your exchange and local authorities. Never pay any follow-up "recovery" fee. Defenders should block the domain and watch for sibling names that pair a stablecoin ticker with a number.
