PhishDestroy threat report
getfreeusdt.com is an impersonation phishing page dressed up as an official USDT promotion. Its Chinese-language title, "免费领取 USDT — 官方活动", translates to "Claim free USDT — official event" and aims the lure squarely at Chinese-speaking stablecoin holders. PhishDestroy first saw the domain on 2026-09-03. As of 2026-10-19 the domain still resolves, but its page content no longer loads.
Fake giveaways borrow the authority of a familiar token and promise free coins to anyone who claims them. The claim step is where the theft happens. Victims are typically told to connect a wallet and sign a transaction, which can hand over spending rights to their tokens. Others are asked to send a small "activation" or "gas" fee first, which never comes back. The "official event" label exists to make that request feel routine, and no real USDT is ever paid out.
Eleven of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain at the 2026-09-15 check. The vendors include Google Safe Browsing, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Gridinsoft and Lionic. That count is modest, but the verdicts come from separate detection pipelines that agree with each other. Google Safe Browsing classifies the site as social engineering, and Spamhaus lists it in its DBL as a phishing domain. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it independently.
The domain was registered through Gname.com Pte. Ltd. on 2026-08-28, just six days before PhishDestroy detected it. That short gap is typical of a site built for a quick campaign rather than a lasting business. It is hosted on Netsec Limited's network in Hong Kong, which fits its Chinese-language audience. Its certificate is a domain-validated one from ZeroSSL, so the browser padlock only shows that the connection is encrypted, not that a legitimate organization runs the site.
If you connected a wallet to this site, open a token-approval checker and revoke any permissions you granted during your visit. If you shared a seed phrase or private key, move your funds to a newly created wallet immediately. Do not send any further "fee" to unlock the promised USDT, because paying more only deepens the loss. Report any transfers to your exchange and local police, and keep the transaction hashes as evidence. Security teams should block the domain and treat Chinese-language "official" free-USDT pages as a phishing pattern worth hunting for.
