101mods.com presents itself as a modded-game download hub. Its headline offer is "eFootball MOD APK v12.1.0 (Unlimited Coins & Money) 2026", a lure aimed at eFootball players who want free in-game currency. PhishDestroy classifies it as an impersonation phishing page and first flagged it on 2026-10-04. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.
How the scam works
Sites like this trade on a familiar game name and an impossible promise: unlimited coins and money without paying. Visitors are pushed to download and sideload an APK from outside the official app store, or to pass through "verification" steps that collect logins and personal details. A sideloaded package can carry adware, spyware or credential-stealing code with broad permissions on the phone. The victim risks their game account, any accounts reused on the device, and the security of the handset itself. The page title describes a mod download portal, and PhishDestroy classifies the site as impersonation phishing.
Evidence
On 2026-10-15, four of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain: CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That count is low, but the four come from separate vendors, and they agree with our classification. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it as well. Among the blocklists covered here, only PhishDestroy lists it so far, which means many browsers and filters will not yet warn users.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-08-01 through Spaceship, Inc., roughly two months before PhishDestroy detected it. That is a fresh domain dressed up with a 2026 version number to look current. It runs behind Cloudflare's network in the US, which hides the origin server from visitors.
What to do
If you downloaded an APK from this site, uninstall it, run a mobile security scan, and check which apps hold accessibility, SMS or device-admin permissions. If you entered a game, Google or social login, change those passwords and turn on two-factor authentication, starting with any account that shares the same password.
