Overview

zhcn-bitget.com.cn is a phishing page impersonating the Bitget cryptocurrency exchange. It was aimed at Chinese-speaking users: the "zhcn" prefix and the .com.cn ending are chosen to look like an official mainland-China portal. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-09. The site has been offline since 2026-10-12, and its DNS was still inactive when we last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page title, "bitget下载中心｜bitget交易所官方注册", means "Bitget Download Center | Bitget Exchange Official Registration". This shows the site posed as the place to get the Bitget app and open an account. Fake download and sign-up portals like this usually work one of two ways. Some hand victims a counterfeit trading app, and others collect the login details, phone numbers and verification codes typed into a fake registration form. Either way, the victim can lose control of a real exchange account, or deposit funds into a platform the scammers control.

Evidence

On 2026-10-09, VirusTotal showed 0 detections across 92 engines, so standard antivirus scanning did not flag this domain. The classification rests on other sources. MetaMask and SEAL list the domain alongside PhishDestroy, and it appears in 4 AlienVault OTX threat pulses. Those listings matter because they come from wallet and security communities that track crypto-specific lures, which generic scanners often miss early on.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-10-03, six days before we detected it. It stayed reachable for only about three days after that. This short lifespan is typical of disposable brand-lookalike domains. The site sat behind Cloudflare's network in the US, which hides the real origin server from public view. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gave it the browser padlock, so the padlock was no sign of legitimacy.

What to do

If you installed an app from this site, uninstall it and scan the device. Then get the Bitget app only from official app stores or Bitget's own website. If you registered or logged in through the page, change your Bitget password right away and reset two-factor authentication. Also review active sessions, API keys and the withdrawal address whitelist for anything you did not set up. If you deposited money through this site, do not pay any "unlock" or "withdrawal" fees, and report the transfer to Bitget support and the police. Defenders should block the domain and watch for new "zhcn-" and .com.cn lookalikes of exchange brands, since operators tend to re-register quickly.
