Overview

whatsapp.viewclass.com is a phishing page that impersonates WhatsApp. It sits on a subdomain whose name puts the brand first, and the page itself is simply titled "WhatsApp". It targets WhatsApp users who arrive through a shared link and assume they are on an official login or verification screen. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-06, and as of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and redirecting visitors.

How the scam works

Pages that imitate WhatsApp usually copy the look of WhatsApp Web or a verification screen. They ask the visitor to scan a QR code, enter a phone number, or type in the six-digit SMS code. Any of these steps can let the attacker link their own device to the victim's account or register it elsewhere. The account owner loses control of their chats and contacts. A hijacked account is then commonly used to message friends and family with urgent requests for money or crypto transfers, so the damage spreads well beyond the first victim.

Evidence

On 2026-10-09, 15 of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the address as malicious or phishing. The flagging vendors include ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, CSIS Security Group, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, CyRadar, DNS8 and Gridinsoft. That is broad agreement among unrelated security firms, not a single outlier verdict. The domain also appears on the Phishunt blocklist alongside PhishDestroy's own listing.

Infrastructure

The parent domain viewclass.com was registered through GoDaddy.com, LLC on 2009-12-12, many years before this subdomain was detected. Its age therefore says nothing about how long the WhatsApp page has existed. Traffic is served through Cloudflare's network in the US, which hides the origin server behind a shared IP address. The TLS certificate comes from Google Trust Services, so the browser padlock appears as normal and should not be taken as a sign that the page is genuine.
