PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

webmcc.com is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself as WEB3.AI, aiming at crypto users drawn to AI-branded Web3 projects. PhishDestroy flagged it on 2026-09-15, the same day the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content, so it remains a live risk.

How the scam works

The page carries the WEB3.AI name to borrow the credibility of an AI-themed crypto brand. urlscan.io classed it as a generic crypto scam rather than a clone of one specific wallet. Pages like this usually push visitors to connect a wallet, sign a transaction, or send funds for a promised AI trading or token feature. One signature or transfer can empty a wallet, and the money cannot be recovered once it moves on-chain.

Evidence

VirusTotal showed 14 of 91 engines flagging the domain on 2026-09-25. The vendors included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is a modest share of engines, but the agreement among several major security vendors is meaningful. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict, and Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. MetaMask and SEAL block it alongside PhishDestroy, and it appears in five AlienVault OTX threat pulses.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Cloudflare, Inc. on 2026-09-15 and was detected that same day. That timing points to a site built for immediate use rather than a long-standing domain that was later compromised. Traffic runs through Cloudflare's network, with the IP geolocated to Canada. The proxy hides the true origin server, so takedown requests have to go through Cloudflare. The free Let's Encrypt certificate only means the padlock icon proves nothing about legitimacy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to webmcc.com, review and revoke any token approvals it requested using a trusted approval-checking tool. Move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not understand. Never enter a seed phrase or private key on this or any similar page. Do not send further "activation" or "unlock" payments it asks for. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to wallet and browser blocklists, and report it to Cloudflare for abuse handling.
