wallet-reconnect.com is an impersonation phishing domain aimed at cryptocurrency wallet users. Its name is the lure: it presents itself as a place to reconnect a wallet that supposedly lost its connection. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-01. As of 2026-10-19 the domain was still alive and serving a redirect, so visitors may still be sent onward to phishing content.
How the scam works
Reconnect scams send users a warning that their wallet has been disconnected, desynced or flagged. They are then directed to a page that copies a legitimate wallet interface. Victims are asked either to type their recovery phrase or private key, or to connect and sign a transaction presented as a routine verification. Either action gives the attacker control: a seed phrase lets them empty the wallet at any time, and a malicious signature can authorize token transfers or open-ended spending approvals. The page title currently reads "404: NOT_FOUND", while we classify the domain as impersonation phishing.
Evidence
Seven of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-09-13: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, G-Data, LevelBlue, SOCRadar and Webroot. That count is modest, but the detections come from separate vendors. The wallet-security community backs them up, with the domain on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy. Spamhaus lists it in its DBL under the phishing category, and three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered on 2026-08-31 through HOSTINGER operations, UAB, and PhishDestroy detected it the next day. That one-day gap is typical of throwaway phishing domains that are put to use as soon as they are bought. The site is hosted on Amazon.com, Inc. infrastructure in the US. Because the operator keeps a redirect running, the destination can be changed without touching the domain itself.
What to do
If you entered a recovery phrase or private key here, treat that wallet as compromised. Move any remaining assets to a newly created wallet with a fresh seed phrase immediately. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, revoke token approvals with a trusted approval-management tool and check your recent transactions for unfamiliar transfers. Legitimate wallets never require you to reconnect through an outside website or to share your seed phrase. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, watch for links to it in phishing email and social media messages, and treat similar reconnect or wallet-sync domains as high risk.
