It is aimed at people looking for crypto mining or passive-income opportunities. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-17 and added it to our blocklist. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.
How the scam works
The page title presents Vertexcoin as a digital mining service. It does not imitate a known brand, and no specific scheme has been confirmed. Sites that sell mining returns under an unfamiliar coin name usually ask visitors to fund an account or buy a plan, then show growing balances on a dashboard the operator controls. The risk here is losing whatever you send, along with any personal or wallet details you hand over to register or "activate" an account.
Evidence
On 2026-09-25, VirusTotal showed 6 of 91 engines flagging the domain: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft and SOCRadar. That is a small minority, but the vendors are independent of one another. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as a spam source, which suggests it has been promoted through unsolicited messages. Four AlienVault OTX pulses also reference it, so other researchers have tracked it separately.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through GoDaddy on 2024-11-01, almost two years before PhishDestroy flagged it. That points to a property kept running over time rather than a throwaway domain. It is hosted on Hostinger International's network in Germany. Its certificate is a free, automatically issued Let's Encrypt one, so the padlock in your browser says nothing about whether the operator is legitimate.
What to do
Do not deposit funds, buy mining plans or pay any fee the site asks for to unlock earnings or withdrawals. If you registered, change that password everywhere you reused it and turn on two-factor authentication. If you connected a crypto wallet, review and revoke any token approvals it granted. If you sent money, keep transaction IDs and screenshots and report them to your exchange and local authorities. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and web proxies and filter email or chat links pointing to it.
