PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

support.accountportalcenter.com is an impersonation phishing page that calls itself "Crypto Recovery Experts | SupportTeam". It is aimed at people who have already lost cryptocurrency and are looking for help getting it back. The hostname is built to pass as an official account or support portal. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-07, and it was still online and serving content when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake recovery services find victims at their most desperate, right after a theft or a failed investment, and promise to trace and return the stolen coins. The usual playbook is to collect upfront "service", "tracing" or "legal" fees. Some operators also push victims to hand over wallet seed phrases, account logins or identity documents, or to install remote-access software. Nothing is ever recovered. The victim loses the fees, and any wallet or account whose credentials they share can be emptied, a second loss on top of the first.

Evidence

On 2026-10-11, VirusTotal showed 6 of 92 engines flagging the domain: CRDF, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Gridinsoft, SOCRadar and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but these are independent vendors with separate detection pipelines. Of the blocklists checked, only PhishDestroy lists the domain, so many browsers and filters may still let it load without a warning.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-04-08 through PDR Ltd. d/b/a PublicDomainRegistry.com, about six months before PhishDestroy detected it. A gap that long suggests the name was either held in reserve or ran quietly before being noticed. The site sits behind Cloudflare in the US, which hides the real origin server from visitors and researchers.

What to do

If you contacted this "support team", stop all communication and do not send any further fees. Legitimate recovery is never guaranteed in exchange for upfront crypto payments. If you shared a seed phrase or private key, move any remaining funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you shared exchange or email logins, change those passwords and reset 2FA, and uninstall any remote-access tool they had you install. Report the contact to your local police and your national fraud reporting service, and keep your payment receipts and chat history as evidence. Defenders should block the domain and its subdomains and warn users that recovery offers often follow an earlier theft.
