PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

support-ledgrcom-en-auth.pages.dev impersonated Ledger, the hardware wallet maker, under the page title "Ledger.com/start - Secure Crypto Management". That title copies the onboarding page that real Ledger owners visit when setting up a device. The subdomain itself, a misspelled "ledgrcom" with "support" and "auth" attached, was built to look like an official help or login page. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15. The site has been offline since 2026-09-23, and its content was blocked by the hosting provider as of 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger setup and support pages usually tell visitors that their device needs verification, a security update or a sync. The page then asks them to type in their 24-word recovery phrase. Some variants push a counterfeit Ledger Live download that asks for the same phrase. Anyone who holds the recovery phrase controls the wallet, so the operators can rebuild it on their own device and empty every account. Funds taken this way cannot be recovered. A hardware wallet gives no protection once the seed has been typed into a website.

Evidence

On 2026-09-21, 16 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. Those engines include BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Emsisoft, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and Chong Lua Dao, so several unrelated vendors reached the same verdict. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognised Ledger branding on it. Besides PhishDestroy, the domain is listed on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists. That means wallet users who rely on those feeds would also have been warned.

Infrastructure

The site was deployed on Cloudflare Pages on 2026-09-08, a week before PhishDestroy caught it. It ran on Cloudflare's network, with the address resolving to Canada. Its certificate came from Google Trust Services, the standard certificate for Cloudflare Pages sites. The padlock in the browser therefore proved nothing about who ran the page. Using a free subdomain on a trusted platform let the operators launch quickly at no cost, and the provider took the content down within about eight days of detection.

What to do

If you typed your recovery phrase into this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new device or reset your current one with a brand-new phrase, then move any remaining funds there immediately. If you installed software from the page, remove it and scan your computer before using any wallet on it again. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase, online or by message. Security teams should block the subdomain and watch for other pages.dev hosts that use misspelled Ledger names.
