How the scam works
Impersonation pages borrow the look, wording and branding of a company people already trust. Victims arrive through ads, social posts or direct messages and assume they are on the real site. The page then asks them to sign in, verify an account, or deposit funds. Anything typed there goes straight to the operators: passwords, one-time codes, personal details or a wallet recovery phrase. With those, the operators can take over the real account or empty the funds behind it.
Evidence
On 2026-09-29, VirusTotal showed 16 of 91 security engines flagging the domain. That is a meaningful minority, coming from independent vendors including BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and ADMINUSLabs. The domain also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, so other researchers have tracked it separately. It is listed on the PhishDestroy blocklist.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2025-10-28, almost eleven months before PhishDestroy caught it. That long quiet stretch suggests a domain held in reserve or run without attracting attention before it surfaced. Its traffic goes through Cloudflare, Inc. on an address attributed to Canada. Because Cloudflare sits in front of the site, the server actually hosting the page stays hidden from visitors.
What to do
Do not log in, deposit or verify anything on sunset-profit.com. If you entered a password there, change it now on the genuine service, and on any other site where you reused it. Turn on app-based two-factor authentication and review recent logins and sessions. If you typed a wallet recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move the remaining funds to a new wallet created on a clean device. If you paid by card or bank transfer, contact your bank about a chargeback. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, search mail and chat logs for links to it, and report it to Cloudflare and Dynadot so the live page can be taken down.
