PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

strendusbono.net poses as an online casino under the name "strendus bono". It pairs the Strendus brand with the Spanish word for bonus. The page title advertises OXXO payments, local support and fast withdrawals, a pitch aimed at Spanish-speaking players in Mexico. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-10-08, and the site was still live and serving content on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fraudulent casinos like this one borrow a recognisable gambling brand and promise a sign-up bonus to win trust quickly. Players are steered into topping up their balance, here through OXXO, which turns a deposit into a cash payment at a convenience store that is hard to dispute or reverse. Balances and winnings may appear to grow, but withdrawals stall. Victims are then asked for extra "verification", tax or release fees before any payout. What players lose is every deposit and every fee paid, plus any identity documents they upload along the way.

Evidence

Nine of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-11, including ChainPatrol, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, Gridinsoft, Seclookup and SOCRadar. That is a modest count, but it comes from a spread of unrelated vendors. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing. MetaMask and SEAL block it alongside PhishDestroy, and four AlienVault OTX pulses reference it, so several independent teams have reached the same conclusion.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-06-04, roughly four months before PhishDestroy caught it. That gap gave the site time to attract players before it was flagged. It sits behind Cloudflare, which hides the real origin server, so the Canadian location of its address reflects the proxy network rather than where the operators are.

What to do

Do not deposit anything, and do not pay any fee that is presented as a condition for releasing winnings, because that money will not come back either. If you already paid through OXXO, keep your receipts and reference numbers and report the payment to the merchant channel and to PROFECO or your local authorities. If you sent a copy of your ID, watch for identity misuse. If you reused your casino password anywhere else, change it there. Defenders should block strendusbono.net at DNS and proxy level and add Spamhaus DBL feeds to filtering so that lookalike casino domains are caught as they appear.
