stormy-abyss.com is an impersonation phishing site. It copies the look of a legitimate service so visitors trust it with their credentials or wallet secrets, and it targets users of the brand it mimics. PhishDestroy first flagged the domain on 2026-09-19. As of 2026-10-19 the site is still online and serving its phishing content, so it remains a live risk.
How the scam works
Impersonation pages work by borrowing trust. The victim arrives through a search ad, a social post or a direct message and lands on a page that looks like a familiar service, down to its logo, layout and wording. The page then asks for whatever unlocks the victim's money: a login and password, a one-time 2FA code, a wallet recovery phrase, or a wallet connection. Anything typed into the page goes straight to the operators, who use it to take over the account or empty the wallet, usually within minutes.
Evidence
Fourteen of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain as malicious on 2026-09-29. The vendors that flagged it include BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and Gridinsoft. These are independent vendors with their own detection methods, so their agreement is meaningful. The domain also appears in three AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers have tracked it. Of the blocklists we monitor, only PhishDestroy lists it so far.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-01-11, about eight months before PhishDestroy detected it. That gap suggests the domain was either held in reserve or ran quietly before it was spotted. Its traffic passes through Cloudflare's network, with the visible address placed in Canada. Because of that proxy, the address that shows up publicly is not the real origin server. The site has a valid certificate from Google Trust Services, so browsers show a padlock, but the padlock only means the connection is encrypted, not that the site is legitimate.
What to do
If you entered a password on this site, change it now on the real service and on any other account that uses the same password. Then turn on or reset 2FA and sign out all active sessions. If you typed in a wallet recovery phrase, treat that wallet as compromised and move any remaining funds to a new wallet created with a fresh phrase. Do not reuse the old wallet. Ignore any follow-up messages offering to recover lost funds, because those are a common second scam. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and web proxies, check logs for users who visited it, and report it to Dynadot and Cloudflare.
