PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

start-ledgrr-live.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page posing as Ledger's setup portal under the title "Ledger® Live – Getting Started™". It targets Ledger hardware wallet owners who search for setup or update help and land on what looks like an official onboarding page. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-15. The site has been offline since 2026-09-23 after the hosting provider blocked its content, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The misspelled "ledgrr" and the trademark-stuffed "Getting Started" title copy the first step a new Ledger owner takes. Fake Ledger Live onboarding pages like this usually walk the visitor through a convincing setup or "wallet sync" flow and then ask for the 24-word recovery phrase, which Ledger never requests online. Anyone who types those words hands over full control of the wallet. The attacker can then rebuild it on their own device and empty every account it holds, no hardware confirmation needed.

Evidence

On 2026-09-21, 14 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the site, including alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Emsisoft, ESET, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data and Kaspersky. That count is moderate, but it comes from vendors that decide independently of each other. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and recognised Ledger branding on it. Beyond PhishDestroy, the domain sits on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, so wallet software and crypto security tooling warn on it.

Infrastructure

The subdomain was created on Cloudflare Pages on 2026-09-07, eight days before PhishDestroy flagged it. That matches the quick throwaway deployments common to wallet phishing. Free pages.dev hosting gives a fresh name instantly, served from Cloudflare, Inc. address space geolocated to Canada. The Google Trust Services certificate is standard for the platform, so the padlock said nothing about whether the page was legitimate.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up your Ledger device with a brand-new phrase and move any remaining funds to it immediately, before the attacker does. Only download Ledger Live through Ledger's official channels, and remember that no legitimate Ledger page will ever ask for your 24 words. Security teams should block the domain and watch for similar typo-variant pages.dev subdomains using Ledger branding. Report new ones to the hosting provider and to the blocklists that already track this one.
