How the scam works
The page is titled "How to Set Up Ledger Portfolio & Wallet App - Secure Your Crypto Today". It poses as an official onboarding guide, which suits someone unpacking a new device. Pages of this kind walk the visitor through fake setup steps that end with a request for the 24-word recovery phrase, or with a download of a counterfeit wallet app that captures it. Whoever holds that phrase controls the wallet. The attacker can rebuild it on their own device and empty every account, and no hardware confirmation on the victim's side can stop it.
Evidence
VirusTotal recorded 12 of 89 engines flagging the domain on 2026-09-23. The vendors included BitDefender, ESET, Kaspersky, Fortinet, G-Data, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, alphaMountain.ai and CyRadar. That is a modest share of engines, but it spans several major vendors that work independently of one another. MetaMask and SEAL also list the domain, alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users relying on those protections would have been warned.
Infrastructure
The site ran on Cloudflare's Pages service under a free subdomain. It was served from Cloudflare's network with a Canadian IP location and a standard Google Trust Services certificate. The domain dates to 2026-08-05, about forty days before PhishDestroy detected it. The "ledgr" misspelling and the "start" and "us" fragments in the name are built to resemble a legitimate Ledger onboarding address at a glance.
What to do
If you typed your recovery phrase into this page or into an app it offered, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new wallet with a fresh phrase, preferably after resetting your device, and move any remaining funds there immediately. Uninstall any software downloaded from the site and get Ledger's app only through Ledger's official channels. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase online. Defenders should block the domain, watch for similar misspelled Ledger lookalikes hosted on the pages.dev subdomain, and report new variants to the hosting provider and to the blocklists.
