PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

stakodefi.org is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself under the name STAKO and is dressed up as a DeFi platform for crypto holders. PhishDestroy flagged it on 2026-10-13, the same day the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its scam content, so it remains a live risk.

How the scam works

Pages like this copy the look and language of a legitimate DeFi or staking project. They then push visitors to connect a wallet, approve a transaction or deposit crypto in exchange for promised yields. The STAKO branding and the "defi" in the domain name are there to make that request feel routine. A signed approval or a deposit sent to this site can give the operators control over the tokens involved. Transfers on-chain cannot be reversed.

Evidence

Ten of 92 VirusTotal engines marked the domain malicious in the 2026-10-17 check. The flagging vendors include alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Chong Lua Dao, CRDF, CyRadar, Fortinet, G-Data and Gridinsoft. That count is modest, but it is notable for a site only four days old. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and tagged the page as a crypto scam. The domain is also on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists, which are maintained by wallet and security teams who watch crypto fraud specifically. Three AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference it as well.

Infrastructure

Registration and detection fell on the same date, 2026-10-13. This points to a freshly stood-up domain that was put into use immediately rather than aged first. The domain is registered through Cloudflare, Inc. and sits behind Cloudflare's network (AS13335) in the US. That setup hides the actual origin server from visitors. A free Let's Encrypt certificate supplies the padlock, so HTTPS here says nothing about the site's legitimacy.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to stakodefi.org, review and revoke any token approvals granted to unfamiliar contracts with a trusted approval-checking tool. Move remaining assets to a fresh wallet if you signed anything you did not fully understand. Never type your seed phrase into this or any similar site. If you already did, treat that wallet as compromised and empty it into a new one immediately. Do not send further deposits to "unlock" staking rewards or withdrawals. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to wallet-protection lists. Report it to Cloudflare as a phishing abuse case to speed up takedown.
