PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

stakodefi.net is an impersonation phishing page that presents itself under the STAKO name, with a domain built to read like a legitimate DeFi staking service. It targets crypto holders looking for staking or yield products. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-10-13, the same day the domain was registered. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its content.

How the scam works

Sites like this copy the branding and look of a DeFi platform, here shown as STAKO, so visitors believe they are on the real service. The victim is pushed to connect a wallet and approve transactions, or to deposit funds to "stake" for promised returns. A signed approval can let the operator move tokens out of the wallet, and deposits sent to the site do not come back. Either way, the loss is the crypto itself, not just account details.

Evidence

Independent detection is solid for a site this new. Seven of 92 VirusTotal engines flagged it as of 2026-10-17: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Fortinet, G-Data, Gridinsoft, Kaspersky and SOCRadar. urlscan.io rated the page malicious and tagged it as a crypto scam. The MetaMask and SEAL blocklists also list it alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet users with those protections should already see a warning. Four AlienVault OTX threat pulses reference the domain, which shows other researchers are tracking it too.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-13 and flagged that same day. That points to a site set up to start luring victims immediately rather than to build a history first. Registration runs through Cloudflare, Inc., and the site sits behind Cloudflare's network with a Canadian location. This setup hides the origin server from casual lookup.

What to do

If you connected a wallet to stakodefi.net, revoke every token approval you granted there right away using a reputable approval-checking tool. If you signed anything you did not fully understand, move your remaining assets to a fresh wallet. If you deposited funds, do not send more for supposed unlocking or withdrawal fees, because that is a common follow-up trick. Record the transaction hashes and report them to your wallet provider. Defenders should block the domain at DNS and proxy level and add it to wallet and browser protection lists. They should also watch for related STAKO-branded lookalike domains.
