PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

secure-ledgerlive-app-en.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that poses as an official source for Ledger Live, the companion app for Ledger hardware wallets. The "secure" and "app-en" wording in the hostname makes it look like a legitimate English-language download portal, which is the impression it relies on. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15. The site has been offline since 2026-09-23, its content is blocked by the hosting provider, and it was still dead when last checked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page is titled "Ledger Live: Your Definitive Guide to the Ledger Companion App". It presents itself as a helpful guide so that visitors trust its download or setup instructions. Fake Ledger Live pages like this usually push one of two things. One is a counterfeit app installer. The other is a "verification" or "recovery" step that asks for the 24-word recovery phrase. Ledger never asks for that phrase online or inside the app. Anyone who types it in gives the attacker full control of every account on the device, and the funds can be swept within minutes.

Evidence

On 2026-09-21, 11 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the address. They included Kaspersky, BitDefender, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, alphaMountain.ai, CyRadar and LevelBlue. That count is modest, but it comes from established, unrelated vendors. The page also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy's own, so several crypto-focused security teams reached the same verdict independently.

Infrastructure

The project was created on Cloudflare Pages on 2026-08-22, about three weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. Free static hosting on a shared pages.dev subdomain lets an operator stand up a polished brand clone with no domain purchase. It also means the clone inherits a trusted-looking certificate, issued here by Google Trust Services. The site resolved to Cloudflare's network with a Canadian location. The provider took the content down shortly after detection.

What to do

If you entered your Ledger recovery phrase on this site, treat it as compromised. Set up a new wallet with a fresh phrase on your device and move any remaining funds to it immediately. Do not just revoke approvals, because the attacker holds the keys themselves. If you downloaded an installer from it, delete the file, scan the computer, and get Ledger Live only from Ledger's official website. Defenders should block the hostname and watch for similar pages.dev subdomains that combine "ledger", "live" or "secure" in their names.
