PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

safepal-ledger-wallet.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that trades on the Ledger name and also borrows SafePal's in its address. It targets owners of hardware and mobile crypto wallets. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-15. The hosting provider blocked the content, the site has been offline since 2026-09-23, and it was still dead at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page presented itself as "ChainGuard Wallet: Trusted Multi-Chain Crypto Management", while our classification is impersonation of Ledger. Pages in this category typically pose as an official wallet setup, sync or security tool. They tell the visitor to "restore" or "verify" the wallet by typing in the recovery phrase or connecting the wallet. Anyone who hands over a seed phrase gives the operator full control of every account derived from it. The funds can then be moved without any further interaction from the victim, and a hardware device offers no protection once the phrase is exposed.

Evidence

Six of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the site as of 2026-09-23: alphaMountain.ai, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, LevelBlue, Sophos and VIPRE. That is a modest count, but the detections come from unrelated vendors. Wallet-focused blocklists carry more weight here, and the domain appears on the MetaMask and SEAL lists as well as PhishDestroy's. Those lists act inside the tools crypto users actually rely on.

Infrastructure

The site was set up on 2026-08-21, about three and a half weeks before PhishDestroy caught it, as a free Cloudflare Pages project. It resolved to Cloudflare, Inc. addresses geolocated to Canada. Its certificate came from Google Trust Services, which is issued automatically for this kind of subdomain. The padlock therefore says nothing about who runs the page. Throwaway subdomains like this cost nothing to create, so similar copies under new names are likely.

What to do

If you entered a recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Create a new wallet with a fresh phrase on your own device and move any remaining assets immediately. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, revoke token approvals with a reputable approval checker. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase through a website. Defenders should block the domain, watch for other pages.dev subdomains combining Ledger or SafePal branding, and report new copies to the hosting provider and wallet blocklists.
