Overview

recompense-dofus.fr is a phishing site impersonating DOFUS, the tactical MMORPG, and is aimed at its players. The domain name uses the French word for "reward," which suits a fake giveaway or compensation offer. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-16. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and redirecting visitors.

How the scam works

The page uses the title "DOFUS, the Tactical MMORPG" to pass as an official game page. Scams of this kind usually promise players a reward, compensation or in-game gift, then send them to a login form that copies the real one. Whatever the player types there goes straight to the operators. With those credentials they can take over the game account and strip it of characters, items and in-game currency. If the player uses the same password elsewhere, those other accounts are at risk too.

Evidence

On VirusTotal, 5 of 92 engines flagged the domain as of 2026-10-19: alphaMountain.ai, CRDF, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet and SOCRadar. That is a low count, but it agrees with the other signals. urlscan.io rated the site malicious and detected the DOFUS brand on it. Spamhaus DBL lists the domain as spam, it appears in 4 AlienVault OTX pulses, and it is on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-12 through Dynadot Inc, four days before PhishDestroy detected it. It resolves to 45.61.183.98 on the RouterHosting LLC network in the United States.
