PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

pintpointapp.com is an impersonation phishing site that presents itself as PintPoint under the tagline "Follow the signal." It targets people looking for that app, most likely crypto users, since wallet-focused blocklists have flagged it. PhishDestroy first detected it on 2026-10-07. As of 2026-10-19 the site was still online and serving its phishing content.

How the scam works

An impersonation page borrows a project's name, look and tone so that visitors believe they are on the real service. The "PintPoint — Follow the signal" branding is the bait. Victims usually arrive through search results, social posts or direct messages. Once there, they are pushed to connect a wallet, sign a request or type in login details or recovery phrases. Anything handed over on a copycat page goes straight to the operators, and a signed wallet permission can let them move funds without asking again.

Evidence

Nine of 92 security engines on VirusTotal flagged the domain as of 2026-10-11, including BitDefender, Kaspersky, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai. That is a modest share, but the vendors are well established and reached their verdicts independently. Wallet-side protection agrees: the domain appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists as well as PhishDestroy's own list. It also features in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses, which means other researchers are tracking it.

Infrastructure

The domain was registered on 2026-10-03, four days before PhishDestroy caught it. A domain that goes from registration to active phishing in under a week usually points to a purpose-built, short-lived operation. Registration runs through Cloudflare, Inc., and the site sits behind Cloudflare's network in the US. That setup hides the true origin server from public view.

What to do

Do not connect a wallet or enter any details on pintpointapp.com. If you already connected a wallet, revoke any token approvals you granted with a trusted approval checker. If you entered a seed phrase, assume the wallet is compromised and move remaining assets to a new wallet created from scratch. If you used a password there, change it wherever you reuse it and turn on two-factor authentication. Security teams should block the domain at DNS and proxy level, add it to wallet and browser protections, and report it to Cloudflare so the hosting can be taken down.
