Overview

live-ledgrdesktop.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page built to pass as Ledger Live, the official desktop companion app for Ledger hardware wallets. The misspelled "ledgr" in the name and the page title "Ledger Live Desktop® | Secure Crypto Management Platform" are aimed at Ledger owners searching for the app. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-08. The site has been offline since 2026-09-16, and as of 2026-10-19 the hosting provider is blocking its content.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger Live sites usually work in one of two ways. Some offer a trojanized "desktop" download. Others claim the device needs a sync, update or recovery and then ask the visitor to type in their 24-word recovery phrase. The polished title, complete with a registered-trademark symbol, is meant to make the page look like an official product site rather than a throwaway clone. Anyone who hands over the recovery phrase gives the attacker full control of every account derived from it, and the hardware wallet offers no protection once the seed is known.

Evidence

On 2026-09-18, eight of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the page: alphaMountain.ai, BitDefender, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Fortinet, G-Data, Kaspersky, LevelBlue and Sophos. That is a modest share of engines, but the vendors include several major endpoint and web-filtering providers. Independent of VirusTotal, the domain also appears on the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists alongside PhishDestroy, so wallet-focused defenders reached the same verdict separately.

Infrastructure

The site ran as a Cloudflare Pages project created on 2026-08-14, about three and a half weeks before PhishDestroy detected it. Free pages.dev subdomains let operators launch a brand-lookalike site in minutes without buying a domain, and the address carries the reputation of a large platform. Traffic resolved to Cloudflare, Inc. infrastructure geolocated to Canada. The project went dark within about a week of detection, and Cloudflare now blocks its content.

What to do

If you typed your recovery phrase into this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new seed on a reset or new device and move any remaining funds there immediately. If you downloaded software from it, uninstall it, run a full malware scan, and install Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site. If you connected a hot wallet, review and revoke token approvals as well. Remember that Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase. Security teams should block the hostname, watch for similar pages.dev lookalikes using "ledgr" spellings, and report new variants to the hosting provider.
