PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledger-77r.pages.dev is an impersonation phishing page that borrows the Ledger name to target owners of Ledger hardware wallets. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-01. The hosting provider has since blocked the content, and the site has been offline since 2026-09-13; it was still down when rechecked on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page carried the title "Ledger — Budget & Subscriptions," which describes a finance-tracking tool rather than wallet software, while PhishDestroy classified the site as Ledger impersonation. Pages that copy Ledger usually push a fake security alert, firmware update or account sync, then ask for the 24-word recovery phrase or a wallet connection. The phrase is the master key to every account the device protects. Anyone who types it into a website lets the operator recreate the wallet elsewhere and empty it, and no hardware device can stop that.

Evidence

Detection by antivirus vendors was thin. Only 2 of 89 VirusTotal engines, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker and Fortinet, flagged the domain at the 2026-09-13 check, so most security tools would not have warned a visitor. Wallet-focused blocklists caught it: MetaMask and SEAL list it alongside PhishDestroy. Those are the sources most likely to trigger warnings inside crypto wallets.

Infrastructure

The site was a subdomain on Cloudflare Pages, a free static-hosting service, created on 2026-05-28. That is roughly three months before PhishDestroy detected it. It resolved to Cloudflare, Inc. network space geolocated in Canada and used a Let's Encrypt certificate. The padlock was issued automatically and says nothing about who ran the page. Disposable subdomains like this one cost nothing to make, so the same operator can easily reappear under a new Ledger-themed name.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this site, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up the device with a brand-new phrase, then move any remaining funds to the new addresses immediately. If you connected a wallet or signed anything, review and revoke token approvals you do not recognize. Ledger never asks for your recovery phrase on a website, by email or in a support chat, so treat any such request as an attack. Defenders should block the domain and watch for similar Ledger-branded pages.dev subdomains, since low antivirus coverage means wallet-specific blocklists are the better early signal.
