PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledgeer-com-start-cloud.pages.dev is a phishing page impersonating Ledger, the hardware wallet maker. It was titled "Ledger Getting Started Guide" and aimed at new or returning Ledger owners looking for setup help. The doubled "e" in "ledgeer" is a typo trick meant to pass a quick glance. PhishDestroy first saw it on 2026-09-01. The site has been offline since 2026-09-13 after the hosting provider blocked its content, and it was still dead at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

Fake Ledger onboarding pages copy the look of an official setup flow and walk the visitor toward a "restore", "verify" or "sync" step. That step asks for the 24-word recovery phrase, which a genuine Ledger process never requests on a website. Anyone who types those words hands over full control of the wallet. The attacker can then rebuild it on their own device and empty every account it holds, and the theft cannot be reversed.

Evidence

Only 3 of 89 VirusTotal engines flagged the address when it was checked on 2026-09-13: alphaMountain.ai, Fortinet and LevelBlue. Low counts like this are common for short-lived pages on shared hosting, so the stronger signals come from crypto-focused sources. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict, and the domain is listed on the PhishDestroy, MetaMask and SEAL blocklists. That means wallet users running MetaMask protections would have been warned.

Infrastructure

The page ran on a free Cloudflare Pages subdomain, which lets an operator publish a convincing site in minutes without buying a domain. The listed registration date of 2025-09-23 comes almost a year before PhishDestroy's first sighting. It was served from Cloudflare's network at an address geolocated to Canada. The certificate came from Google Trust Services, so the padlock in the browser says nothing about whether the page was legitimate.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this page, treat the wallet as compromised. Set up a new seed on a reset device right away and move any remaining funds to it before the attacker does. If you only browsed, nothing is lost, but get Ledger software only from the vendor's official channels. Remember that no real support page ever asks for your 24 words. Defenders should block the full subdomain and alert on lookalike Ledger spellings on free hosting platforms. Reports of similar pages should also go to the platform's abuse team.
