PhishDestroy threat report

Overview

ledgarapp.onlinedocsfilesreport.com was an impersonation phishing page posing as Ledger, the hardware wallet maker. It targeted people who own or are shopping for a Ledger device. The hostname misspells the brand as "ledgar" and sits under a generic-sounding parent domain unrelated to Ledger. PhishDestroy first flagged it on 2026-09-17. The site has been offline since 2026-09-24, and its DNS was still inactive at the last check on 2026-10-19.

How the scam works

The page copied Ledger's real site title, "Hardware Wallet & Crypto Wallet - Security for Crypto | Ledger". Search results and browser tabs therefore looked like the official site. Fake Ledger pages usually push a bogus app download, firmware update or "wallet sync" step. That step asks for the 24-word recovery phrase. Ledger never asks for that phrase online, and anyone who has it can empty the wallet. A victim who typed it in would lose every asset tied to the device, no matter how securely the hardware itself was stored.

Evidence

On 2026-09-19, 17 of 89 VirusTotal engines classified the site as malicious. They included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, Emsisoft, alphaMountain.ai, CRDF and CyRadar. Agreement from that many unrelated vendors two days after our first sighting is strong confirmation. urlscan.io independently rated the page malicious and recognised the Ledger branding. The domain appears on the PhishDestroy blocklist.

Infrastructure

The parent domain was registered through Gransy, s.r.o. on 2025-10-07, nearly a year before the Ledger page went live. That points to a domain held in reserve for reuse rather than one registered for this single page. The site was hosted in the United States on the Leaseweb USA network in Dallas. It stayed reachable for only about a week after detection before going dark.

What to do

If you entered your recovery phrase on this site, treat that wallet as compromised. Set up a new device or wallet with a fresh phrase on a trusted, offline device. Then move any remaining funds to it immediately, before an attacker does. If you only browsed or downloaded something, delete the download and scan your computer. Get Ledger Live only from Ledger's official site. Remember that no legitimate Ledger service will ever ask for your 24 words. Security teams should block the parent domain onlinedocsfilesreport.com as well as this subdomain, since the same parent can host new lures. They should also watch for typo hostnames like "ledgar" in mail and proxy logs.
