How the scam works
Mirror-link phishing relies on people who can't reach or bookmark the real site and search for a working link instead. The page copies the Kraken brand and presents itself as a trusted Tor mirror, then asks the visitor to sign in. Anything typed into that form goes straight to the operators. That means the account login, password and any one-time codes, which they can use to take over the account and empty its balance. The title advertises a Tor onion mirror rather than a standard web login, and PhishDestroy classified the site as Kraken impersonation phishing.
Evidence
On 2026-09-25, 12 of 91 VirusTotal engines flagged the domain. They included BitDefender, ESET, Fortinet, Forcepoint ThreatSeeker, G-Data, Gridinsoft, CRDF and alphaMountain.ai, a spread of independent vendors rather than a single source. urlscan.io returned a malicious verdict and detected the Kraken brand on the page. Spamhaus lists the domain in its DBL as phishing, and the MetaMask and SEAL blocklists carry it alongside PhishDestroy. It also appears in four AlienVault OTX threat pulses.
Infrastructure
The domain was registered through Dynadot Inc on 2026-09-08, and PhishDestroy caught it 17 days later. It went dark about five days after detection, a short lifespan typical of disposable phishing domains. The site sat behind Cloudflare, with the address geolocated to Canada, so the true origin server was hidden. Its Let's Encrypt certificate gave visitors a padlock, which proves nothing about who runs a site.
What to do
If you entered Kraken credentials on this page, change your password immediately. Reset two-factor authentication and review active sessions, API keys and withdrawal addresses for anything you didn't add. Contact Kraken support if you see unfamiliar logins or withdrawals. Change the password on any other service where you reused it. In future, reach Kraken only through a saved bookmark, never through mirror links found in search results or chats.
